4’s Up. Four Things You Should Know About Flau’jae
by nxus Contributor, Pee Sheff
I will start this article by readily admitting that I was today years old when we realized Miss Big 4 herself was not already in the WNBA. She actually has a few years to go before she hits the big stage with the likes of Angel Reese and Godmuva Aja Wilson. Flau’jae is currently enrolled at LSU and is a triple threat in her career already. The young trendsetter balances a music career, a podcast with her mother, and, of course, a collegiate basketball and academic schedule.
Fact 1: Her schedule is 🤯😳
On one of her recent podcast episodes, “Best of Both Worlds,” she recants a time when her schedule (as we would expect) had a bit of a conflict. She was performing in Atlanta with hip hop R&B teddy bear Rod Wave the night before an early morning practice.
Flaujae admits that she knows the pressure is on from her coach Kim Mukley to not only put basketball first but to show up as a leader for her team. She could not miss her practice or show up with low energy. In true Flau’jae fashion, she hops on a sprinter and drives 7 hours overnight to arrive to practice right at the nick of time. Then proceeds to cook in practice of course. We get it Flau’ we want to know how many traffic tickets you avoided to get there!
Fact 2 - The brands are fans.
Being an NIL athlete comes with many perks, one of which is that our entrepreneurial queen has landed a shoe deal with Puma and a sponsorship from Nike. And no, they are not beefing both corporate conglomerates want a piece of the action. Both sports giants were willing to work with Flaujae and share her energy. Several brands approached Flaujae, but ultimately, Puma took the cake after expressing interest in all of her endeavors instead of only basketball.
We know NIL deals are the wave right now, and opportunities like this are becoming more common, but you have to admit this is pretty lit. Flaujae isn’t living the previously normal college experience eating noodles with her net worth already reaching millionaire status, 1.5 million to be exact. With other deals with Puma, Experian, Powerade, JBL, and TurboTax —this is only the beginning for her.
Fact 3: She may be working her way to the WNBA court, but she is already in the boardrooms.
Flaujae recently recorded the new WNBA video game theme song “Can’t Get Enough " with Bia and LaKeyah. Powered by Culture Jam, the music collective spearheaded by Kawhi Leonard, the single debuted on July 15 across ESPN platforms. The team pulled together a talented team and shot the visuals in a Phoenix desert on the way to the All-Star game.
"Can't Get Enough" hits hard as a declaration of confidence, financial success, and rising above the rest. BIA opens with a strong verse and hook, establishing her boss mindset right from the start. Lakeyah delivers sharp punchlines with a smooth, commanding flow. Then, Flau'jae takes the spotlight, sliding through her verse with ease and proving why she's the one to watch. The track's booming club beat perfectly complements the energy of each artist. Women are taking charge in the rap scene. PERIOD.
Fact 4: Flau’jae is proving that diamonds aren’t just a girl’s best friend—they’re a symbol of her unstoppable rise at Roc Nation.
Speaking of women running sh*t and pressure making diamonds, let’s go ahead and throw that HOV originated, well-regarded symbol up in the air! Our girl is signed to.. yep you guessed it, ROC NATION! Flaujae is not even old enough to buy a margarita but continues to run laps around traditional expectations for a 20-year-old. She is used to setting the tone at a young age Flau’jae first wowed the nation on America’s Got Talent, showcasing her lyrical skills at just 14. Then she proceeded to do the work to get signed by Roc Nation in 2020 when she was just 16 years old. Her deal with Roc Nation was a significant milestone in her career, marking her as one of the youngest artists to be signed by the label.
Flau’jae Johnson is a force to be reckoned with, both on and off the court. From balancing a demanding schedule that includes music, podcasts, and collegiate basketball, to landing major brand deals and dominating in the boardroom, she’s proving that she’s more than just an athlete—she’s a powerhouse. Whether she’s spitting bars on a track or shooting hoops, Flau’jae embodies the resilience, drive, and multifaceted talent that define the next generation of stars.
Flau’jae is setting the standard for what it means to be a true triple threat. As she continues to rise, one thing is clear: Flau’jae isn’t just keeping up—she’s leading the way.
